Google's
free email service Gmail suffered a partial outage today at
approximately 1.30pm in India, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Many
users encountered the 502 error, which was later confirmed as a service
disruption by the internet search giant via its Apps Status Dashboard.
At
1.50pm, Google posted a message on the dashboard stating, "The issue is
affecting less than 0.75% of users. The affected users are located in
India, Middle East and South East Asia. The errors may appear sporadic
and could go away when the page is refreshed."
Google
resolved the issue at 2.25pm and posted an apology on the dashboard.
The company said, "The problem with Gmail should be resolved. We
apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and
continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top
priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make
our systems better."
Gmail users took to social
media websites to air their grievances about this service outage, the
third time in two weeks. The email platform also suffered outages on May
2 and May 8.
